Smart Sites was founded in 2024 by Konrad van Grinsven. Konrad has over 20 years experience as a professional web designer and previously was the owner of a successful digital marketing agency. He also runs Romantic Retreats, a website showcasing a handpicked collection of the most romantic places to stay.
Born and raised in The Netherlands Konrad started his working life in sales & marketing roles. After having worked as Information Architect for an internet agency, he started work for Wegener, one of the largest media companies in The Netherlands. Here, he worked together with designers, programmers, marketers and editors on various internet projects, ranging from the first Dutch online newspaper to the first steps into internet advertising.
When relocating to Kendal, Cumbria, he founded Spark Digital Marketing and built successful websites for hotels, holiday cottages and small businesses.
In 2007 Konrad started the website Romantic Retreats which went from strength to strength so in 2013 he decided to sell Spark Digital Marketing to focus his energy on this venture.
But Konrad started to miss the creative process and client interaction so in 2024 he decided to bundle together his digital marketing experience and start a new web design agency - Smart Sites.
